PSE Round-Up: January 28, 2013

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market was up for the third straight trade, increasing by 24.78 or .40% to close at 6,192.42. Total trades reached 26,219 with 101 stocks advances, 61 declines and 50 stocks unchanged.


URC to Invest in Power Gen Business

Universal Robina Corporation (PSE:URC) plans to invest $60 million for a power generation plant in its sugar mill in Visayas. The plant will use bagasse or waste insugarcane milling as feedstock and will start commercial operations in 2014.


RFM Posts 34% Growth

RFM Corporation (PSE:RFM) disclosed that it finished the year with P682 million net income, 34% higher than the P508 million posted last year. The increase were mainly due to the 11% sales growth and lower commodity input costs.

PSE Round-Up: November 14, 2012

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market was down for the second day, closing slightly lower at 5,451.09. Total trades were down to 21,826 with 81 stocks advances, 67 declines and 51 stocks unchanged.


SMC Confirms talks with Cayman Airways

San Miguel Corporation (PSE:SMC) confirmed they are in talks with the Government of Cayman Islands to pursue a possible investment in Cayman Airways. SMC is said to have offered $25 million which will give them 49% controlling interest should the negotiations push through.


JFC Profits Up 19%

Jollibee Foods Corporation (PSE:JFC) reported net income of P881.7 million for the third quarter of 2012, up by 18.9% from same period last year. Main drivers were sales growth in businesses overseas. JFC shares closed at P105.7 per share, up by P.70 for the day.


RFM Declares Cash Dividend

RFM Corporation (PSE:RFM) declared cash dividend as follow:

FLI Net Income Increase 18%

Filinvest Land, Inc. (PSE:FLI) announced its net income for the first nine months of 2012 roseby 18% to P1.967 billion, up from P1.661 billion generated same period last year. The growth was fueled by increase in real estate sales. FLI stocks were down P.1 to 1.58 per share.


SECB Net Income Up 55%

Security Bank Corporation (PSE:SECB) reported an increase in third quarter results to P6.2 billion, up by 55% from same period last year. The result was mainly driven by growth in loans portfolio and deposits. SECB shares closed at P161.90, down by P.10 for the day.


PNX Posts 19% Growth

Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc. (PSE:PNX) posted a 19% growth in revenue to P24.90 billion in the first nine months from P20.90 billion last year. PNX stocks were up P.07 to P8.55 per share.

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market closed is up for the third straight trade, slightly increasing by 1.19 points to P5,470.70. Total trades reached 23,004 with 75 stocks advances 83 declines and 52 stocks unchanged.



PCOR Reports P932M Income for Nine Months

Petron Corporation (PSE:PCOR) realized consolidated net income of P932 million for the first nine months of 2012 despite volatile global oil markets. 3Q income reached P500 million to reverse the recorded loss posted on 2Q. PCOR stocks increased by P.04 to close at P10.78.


RFM Net Income Increase 47%

RFM Corporation (PSE:RFM) posted P440 million net income for the first nine months of 2012, up by 47% from last year. The company also accounted a 13% sales growth. RFM shares closed lower by P.04 at P4.13.


JFC Declares Cash Dividend

CPG Reports 95% Growth

Century Properties Group, Inc. (PSE:CPG) reported 95% increase in net income to P1.4 billion for the first nine months of 2012 backed y stronger sales. CPG stocks closed at P1.43 inceasing by P.03 per share. 


RCB Net Income UP 17%

RCBC (PSE:RCB) net income for the first nine months of 2012 reached P4.8 billion or 17% higher than last period. The growth was mainly due to higher net interest income. RCB shares closed at P46.95 up by P.10 for the day.


PIP Posts 208% Growth

Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines (PSE:PIP) posted a record 208% increase in profits for the first nine-months of 2012. PIP stocks closed at P5.55. lower by .P05 for the day.


SMC Nears Deal to Sell Bank of Commerce

San Miguel Corp. (PSE:SMC) moved a step closer to finalize a deal to sell its majority stake in Bank of Commerce. It has confirmed it is currently in talks with Malaysian investors to push through with the transaction. SMC shares were unchanged to close at P109 per share.


ALI to Invest in FamilyMArt

Ayala Land, Inc. (PSE:ALI will spend P80 million to establish 30 FamilyMart stores in 2013. This will help them build their retail portfolio taking advantage of partnering with established brands/. ALI shares inched higher by P.35 to close at P23.25 per share.

PSE Round-Up: October 17, 2012

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market is on a four-day rally increasing by 38.44 to close at 5,436.38. A total of 26,796 trades were recorded with 89 stocks advances, 66 declines and 53 unchanged.


CEB to Add Flight Destinations

Cebu Pacific, Air  (PSE:CEB) is ready to mount additional flights to local destinations that other carriers are planning to abandon. CEB affirms that they have enough planes to cover more flights and expects more planes coming in the next few years. The company currently operates 39 aircrafts, the largest fleet in the Philippines, with an average of 3.6 years.


RFM Finalize Asset Purchase Agreement

RFM Corporation (PSE:RFM) completed the paperworks for the sale of its Swift brand to Pacific Meat Company, Inc. a subsidiary of Century Canning Group. The sale transfer amounting to P800-850 million covers materials and equipment, but excludes the meat plant and building in Cabuyao, Laguna.


MPI to Fully Support Infrastructure Projects

Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (PSE:MPI) issued a statement clarifying recent opinion articles claiming that the company is opposing government plans on key infrastructure projects, particularly in finding new maintenance provider for MRT3. MPI assured the public and the government that it fully supports ways to improve the quality of service in MRT3 and also throughout the country. 

PSE Round-Up: October 15, 2012

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market was up two consecutive days, increasing by 13.50 points or .25% to close at 5,383.22 Monday. Stocks advancer edged decliners, 94 to 70, while 43 stocks remained unchanged. Total trades reached 25,666.


CHIPS Partner with Sony LSI

Semiconductor manufacturer Cirtek Holdings Philippines, Corp. (PSE:CHIPS) and Sony LSI Design, Inc. have finalized business plans for the marketing, sales, distribution and manufacturing of high-end test boards used in various electronic gadgets. The potential partnership was previously reported here. CHIPS had also sets its forecast sales at $22 million for full yer 2013.

Solid Group, Inc. (PSE:SGI) declared cash dividend from its unrestricted retained earning with below details:

MER Expects Higher Income For 3Q

Manila Electric, Co. (PSE:MER) expects to exceed its P11.6 billion core income recorded at the end of nine months last year. Reports say that electricity sales volume grew 7.6% against same period last year.


RFM-Century Deal "As Good As Done"

RFM Corp. (PSE:RFM) is nearing completion on its negotiation talks with Century Canning Corp to sell its meat processing business. RFM CEO Joey Concepcion III said in an interview that the deal was "as good as done." The news of possibly selling its meat operations segment was earlier reported last week.


FMIC to Delist in PSE

First Metro Investment Corporation (PSE:FMIC) plans to delist its shares from the exchange. FMIC board of directors decided in a recent company meeting that the company plans will continue to operate as a non-listed entity.

PSE Round-Up: October 9, 2012

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market was down for three consecutive trades to close at 5,394.90. Trades reached 26,169 with 117 stocks declining from yesterday. 50 stocks advanced while 36 remained unchanged.



PX Assures Resumption of Its Operations

Philex Mining Corporation (PSE:PX) assured the public that operations from its Padcal, Benguet mine will eventually be resumed on a conservative estimate of six to twelve months. The DENR suspended the mining operations due to sediment leaks caused by heavy rains in the past months. 


CEB On-Time Flights Reach A New High

Cebu Pacific Air, Inc (PSE:CEB) reached a record 92.5% on departures within 15 minutes of schedules time for September 2012. This was significantly higher than the 85.7% recorded same period last year. Other Asian carriers achieved 72.6% on average.


RFM Target to Sell Swift

RFM Corporation (PSE:RFM) expects to seal a deal to for the sales of its swift meat operations. Discussion are still ongoing and no definitive date was set.

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market is up by 81.97 or 1.56% to close at 5,322.47 All sectors advanced led by Property (2.07%) and Services 1.92%).

Wellex Industries is studying possibility of shifting to real estate business amid resurgent performance by the industry. WIN currently operates as a mining company.


RFM in Talks for Possible Joint Venture

PT Indofood, a subsidiary of Pangilinan-led First Pacific Co. Ltd has reportedly expressed interest in forming a joint venture with a subsidiary of RFM corp. RFM denied rumors of offers to buy RFM Mr. Pangilinan.


AEV Buys UBP Shares

Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. bought 1,650,000 shares of Union Bank of the Philippines today for a price ranging from 102.80 - 104.70. Similar stories were also previously reported.
