PSE Round-Up: January 29, 2013

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market was up for the fourth straight trade, inching higer by 42.31 or .68% to close at 6,234.73. Total trades reached 29,907 with 109 stocks advances, 67 declines and 40 stocks unchanged.


PNX Posts 26% Growth

Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc. (PSE:PNX) posted a 26% growth in revenue to P34.7 billion in 2012 compared to P27.5 billion recorded in 2011. The increase was mainly due to the 26% higher fuel sales volume. PNX's market share also grew from 5.4% to around 6% for 2012.


MEG Sets P35B Capex

Megaworld Corporation (PSE:MEG) sets its 2013 capital expenditure to P35 billion, doubling last year's growth in sales. This was the highest capex allocation for MEG thus far.

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market was up for the second straight trade, closing 6,167.64 or 50.37 points higher yesterday. Total trade reached 23,511 with 95 stocks advances, 69 declines and 45 stocks unchanged. PSEi is up 28.43 or .46% for the week.


PNX Declares Cash and Stock Dividends

Phoenix Petroleum (PSE:PNX) declared cash dividend of P.10 per share and 30% stocks dividend to be taken from unappropriated retained earnings. No record and payment dates have been set.


UBP Declares Cash Dividend

Union Bank of the Philippines (PSE:UBP) declared cash dividend of P3.50 per share. no record and payment dates have been announced.


CEB Passengers Increase 11%

Cebu Pacific Air (PSE:CEB) flew 13.26 million passengers from January to December 2012, 11% higher than 11.93 million recorded last 2011. The increase is attributed to strategic expansion in its domestic and international operations. 

PSE Round-Up: November 14, 2012

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market was down for the second day, closing slightly lower at 5,451.09. Total trades were down to 21,826 with 81 stocks advances, 67 declines and 51 stocks unchanged.


SMC Confirms talks with Cayman Airways

San Miguel Corporation (PSE:SMC) confirmed they are in talks with the Government of Cayman Islands to pursue a possible investment in Cayman Airways. SMC is said to have offered $25 million which will give them 49% controlling interest should the negotiations push through.


JFC Profits Up 19%

Jollibee Foods Corporation (PSE:JFC) reported net income of P881.7 million for the third quarter of 2012, up by 18.9% from same period last year. Main drivers were sales growth in businesses overseas. JFC shares closed at P105.7 per share, up by P.70 for the day.


RFM Declares Cash Dividend

RFM Corporation (PSE:RFM) declared cash dividend as follow:

FLI Net Income Increase 18%

Filinvest Land, Inc. (PSE:FLI) announced its net income for the first nine months of 2012 roseby 18% to P1.967 billion, up from P1.661 billion generated same period last year. The growth was fueled by increase in real estate sales. FLI stocks were down P.1 to 1.58 per share.


SECB Net Income Up 55%

Security Bank Corporation (PSE:SECB) reported an increase in third quarter results to P6.2 billion, up by 55% from same period last year. The result was mainly driven by growth in loans portfolio and deposits. SECB shares closed at P161.90, down by P.10 for the day.


PNX Posts 19% Growth

Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc. (PSE:PNX) posted a 19% growth in revenue to P24.90 billion in the first nine months from P20.90 billion last year. PNX stocks were up P.07 to P8.55 per share.

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market increased by 33.54 to close at 5,325.60. All sectors were up except Services which slightly fell by .06%. Strong intraday trades near the closing bell drove the market up.


AEV Continue to Accumulate on UBP Shares

Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (PSE:AEV) bought additional 1,430,000 shares of Union Bank of the Philippines (PSE:UBP) at P 106 and P 106.50 divided equally. The accumulation of shares was reported several times here.


PNX Get High Debt Rating

Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc. (PSE:PNX) received a favorable PRS Aa minus rating from Philippine Ratings Services Corporation (PHilRatings) in anticipation of a possible issuance of up to P 3 billion corporate notes. The rating means a high quality obligation and low credit risk for the holders.

FOOD Pushes for Singapore Listing

Alliance Select Foods International, Inc. (PSE:FOOD) can be the first Philippines company to be listed in Philippine and Singapore exchanges once its planned listing pushes through. The additional listing will help FOOD raise more funds for expansion and other projects. 


TDY Gets Approval to Change Corporate Name

The board of directors of Tanduay Holdings, Inc. (PSE:TDY) approved today the change of its corporate name to LT Group, Inc. This is in line with the company owner Lucio Tan's plan to consolidate his holdings into one vehicle.  

PSE Round-Up: September 7, 2012

Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Exchange increased by 51.21 or .99% to close at 5,201.32. Only Mining & Oil was lower by 1.91% on all sectors. Advancers were led by Property (2.44%) and Services (1.36%).


AEV Purchases UBP Shares Anew

Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (PSE:AEV) bought 164,350 additional shares of Union Bank of the Philippines (PSE:UBP) at P 102 per share. AEV also bought UBP shares on Aug. 8 and Aug. 22 with 2,300,000 and 250,000 shares respectively.


Trans-Asia Releases First Half Results

Trans-Asia Oil & Energy Development Corp. (PSE:TA) reported consolidated revenues of P529.59 million for the 2nd quarter of 2012 from P 289.25 million same period last year. The compnay recently signed a long-term contract with Lafarge Republic, Inc. to supply part of its electricity requirements. 


Phoenix Acquires Chelsea Shipping

Phoenix Petroleum (PSE:PNX) will issue P 180 million warrants in exchange of P 50 million convertible notes and 100% shares of stock of Chelsea Shipping Corporation. Chelsea is among the top petroleum tanker owners in the country.
