PSE Round-Up: February 15, 2013


PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market is up by 8.23 or .13%. Total trades recorded were 35,189 with 90 stocks advances, 84 declines and 39 stocks unchanged. PSEi is up by 62.97 or .97% for the week.


MPI-DMC Reduces Interest With Maynilad

Japanese company Marubeni Corp will own 20% of Maynilad Water after Metro Pacific Investments (PSE:MPI) and DM Consunji Holdings (PSE:DMC) agreed to sell some of its shares. MPI will reduce its shares by 4% while DMC will absorb the remaining 20%, but the two companies will still remain the majority owners, holding 52.8% and 25.24% after the transation for MPI and DMC respectively.


URC Posts 12% Sales Growth

Universal Robina Corporation (PSE:URC) posted sales growth of 11.8% for the first quarter of its fiscal year Oct 2011 to Dec 2012. Net sales increased to P20.098 billion from PP17.98 billion same period last year.


SCC Panian Pit Operations Meets Tragedy

Semirara Mining Corporation reported that the west wall of its Panian Pit collapsed last Feb 13 and has order to stop mining activities. At least 13 personnel are affected and 3 were confirmed dead. 

PSE Round-Up: January 28, 2013

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market was up for the third straight trade, increasing by 24.78 or .40% to close at 6,192.42. Total trades reached 26,219 with 101 stocks advances, 61 declines and 50 stocks unchanged.


URC to Invest in Power Gen Business

Universal Robina Corporation (PSE:URC) plans to invest $60 million for a power generation plant in its sugar mill in Visayas. The plant will use bagasse or waste insugarcane milling as feedstock and will start commercial operations in 2014.


RFM Posts 34% Growth

RFM Corporation (PSE:RFM) disclosed that it finished the year with P682 million net income, 34% higher than the P508 million posted last year. The increase were mainly due to the 11% sales growth and lower commodity input costs.

PSE Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks Market was down 6.23 or .10% to close at 6,087.67. Total trades reached 33,906 with 73 stocks advances, 97 declines and 45 stocks unchanged. 



URC Net Income Up 62.9%

Universal Robina Corporation (PSE:URC) announced its net income to P8.158 billion, up 62.9% from the same period last year. The favorable result as mainly due to strong operating income from branded consumer foods group.

PSE Round-Up: August 29, 2012

Market Summary:

The Philippine Stocks index climbed by 20.10 or .39% to close at 5,195.72. The increase was led by Financials (.71%) and Services (.58%).  Only Mining and Oil closed lower (.82%) for all sub-indices. There were 17,761 trades for the day with total value of 4.2 trillion.


RCBC to Include PLDT Notes in Portfolio

Financial service company Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation approved in its directors' meeting today investment in Philippine Long Distance Company's (PLDT) corporate note issue for the regular trust and management account it maintains. This means that said security will be included in the basket of funds the company manages.


PAL Buys 54 Airbus Aircraft

Aircraft carrier Philippine Airlines confirmed report of ordering 54 airbus aircraft to fuel planned revitalization and capitalize growth in tourism in the country. The purchase had a list price of $7 billion. 


URC In Talks of Expansion

Retail and consumer business Universal Robina Corp. (URC) remain in negotiations to expand its sugar division by way of local acquisition. The deal, though relatively small in value, is projected to help improve margins and market share.

ALI highest bidder for FTI Property

Property Developer Ayala Land, Inc. disclosed that their bid of P24.33 billion for FTI Property was declared the highest bidder among other participants. This represents approximately P32,282 per sqm of the said property. 

EDC Income Rise 350%

Geothermal Company Energy Development Corporation posted a net income of P5.7 b
illion for the first half of 2012 reversing the P2.3 billion net loss registered same period last year. Revenues from First Gen Hydro Power Plant and Green Core Geothermal Inc. were the company’s main income drivers.

Vista Land Posts 25% Net Income

Property Developer Vista Land & Landscapes, Inc. reported a 25% increase in first half net income to P2.19 billion from P1.74 billion same period last year. Sales continue to remain strong, posting 47% growth.

URC to Purchase International Unit

Snacks food and beverage company Universal Robina Corporation disclosed it will purchase 23% of URC International Co., Ltd valued at P7.2 billion. URCI manufactures, markets and distributes consumer food products in China, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Singapore.

First Gen Posts $92.8 million Net Income

First Gen Corporation reported net income attributable to parent of $P92.8 million from $16 million loss same period last year. Affiliate Energy Development Corporation mainly contributed to the increase in earnings.

PSE Net Income Grows 86% in First Half

The Philippine Stocks Exchange, Inc. announced its net income increased by 86% to P324.41 million from P174.80 million same period last year, mainly due to higher listing and trading-related revenues. Three companies conducted initial public offerings during the period; GT Capital Holdings, Inc., Eastwest Banking Corpor
ation, and Calata Corporation, raising a total of P17.89 bilion. Full report can be viewed here.

ICT Award 75,000 Shares under Stock Incentive Plan

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. awarded 75,000 shares to selected members of management at an average price of P70.80 under its stock incentive plan. These shares were deducted from treasury shares.

CPG Reports 91% Increase in Net Income

Property Developer Century Properties Group posted a net income of P944 million, up from P496 million or 91% same period last year. The company has continued to be aggressive in its marketing strategies for its newly launched development projects.

GT Capital Core Net Income Posts 51% Increase

Investment Holding Conglomerate GT Capital Holdings, Inc. (PSE:GTCAP) disclosed P2.6 billion core net income up 51% from P1.7 billion same period last year. The increase was attributed to higher net income contribution from associate Global Business Power Corporation.
